As an alumnus, I have a lot to say about this school. As other reviews have said, there is a clear favoritism towards certain students and families. From pre-kindergarten through about first grade, teachers in the early grades gave some students cute nicknames and paid more attention to them than others . In middle school classes, teachers gave certain students special incentives, took time out of class to engage in off-topic conversations with them, and decided on other students based on gossip from their favorites.
St. Ambrose School has many of the same negative reviews online to start with. However, here is where my review gets a star which should be a no star. The administration staff were unprofessional and lack communication manners. This starts with the principal Ms. Sarah McDonald. I'm being very polite when I say this school is an embarrassment to the catholic school community. Geographically, there are two other schools nearby. We're paying for our children's Catholic school education and certain level of respect should be given to the parents or guardians. This school and staff have seem to forgotten that. We chose a school due to lots of reasons for our children. This includes the teachers, classroom curriculum, school environment and staff. Unfortunately, this school doesn't even meet the very bare minimum standard of any listed above. Also, I'll be sending out my notifications to the Catholic school Superintendent about our families terrible and offensive experience. I won't recommend this school to anybody else.
St. Ambrose School is amazing. This school invests its resources in its staff. Also, it provides a warm and welcoming environment for children to learn and grow.
