Our daughter spent three years at Southampton Montessori School by the age of 2 to 5. I followed the hype and enlisted her on their long waiting list. I thought surely this means the school is great. She's a bright child. However, academically she was behind when we moved her to kindergarten from another school. She was struggling on recognizing, as well as writing letters and numbers. It may be the Montessori concept, but I think it's the school in particular. I feel the teachers were not as involved in ensuring children, as well as in spending time on preparing them for kindergarten and first grade. Obviously, children will gravitate to what they like to do and that's fine for a young child. And I expect the teachers to redirect them at times. However, I did not see that in our years in this school. I'm so glad our daughter began kindergarten elsewhere. She has been learning so much in the last few months there. Honestly, if I could go back I would not have put my daughter at this school. I hope my review helps others parents who might choose this school.
