This has been a good school for me and this has really helped me in college. They have good academics, sports program, and small but decent Christian community. However, admin lacks in the tools to effectively deal with problems facing the student body. They also tolerate drugs, sex, vaping, partying, cheating, stealing, and bullying. This school is filled with fake Christians like what someone has said as well. They kinda forces Christianity on kids instead of teaching then to be honest about themselves. Overall, they have a good education, but still needs some improvement.
10/10 would recommend! Our daughter is a 10th grade transfer student who came from a well-known private school in town, but HCHS has really been a great fit for her. She was very welcomed here and was easily assimilated to this school. We were worried about transferring her because she might have downstream in academic strength and vigor, but luckily, we found this school to be as challenging as her prior school. Our favorite thing about this school is their culture. There are no "groups" here and everyone just feels like a family.
HCHS is an amazing school where my children thrive so much. The Christian experience in Houston goes beyond academic excellence and promotes community, spiritual growth, leadership, athletics, and extracurricular activities. My eldest was well-prepared for freshman year in college because of this school.
My daughter is transferring this year here to Houston Christian High School for her junior year. We have the most amazing experience in this school so far. The staff, students, teachers and coaches, are just wonderful. My daughter is the happiest I've seen her in years. Coming from a huge public high school, she was academically good, but she got lost in social life. I really thought that's the way things were. I now realize how wrong I was. She's excelling in academics, making new friends and preparing for college. This school focuses on students as a whole. Also, the low student to teacher ratio has been such a blessing.
