Unfortunately, we had to pull our fifth grader out today because of an extremely disrespectful student. Admin didn't even do anything to rectify the situation because he is the son of a billionaire who has donated to the schools expansion project. This school just really cares more about your donation than your child and their education.
My children were here at Carrollwood Day School for three years now. This school is significantly academically weak compared to any of the schools my children had attended before, including both private and public schools. It's very difficult for me to understand how they got the IB accreditation. In our experience, they do not meet the standards. The school environment can be very passive and aggressive. The students can be very disrespectful. Where caring is common, is the school's slogan but is very far from reality. Bullying, racial slurs, and rude remarks about women are common among students. And when trying to complain to counselors, they don't take you seriously and often ignore your concerns. In addition, the school is highly politicized. Teachers were all the time sharing their private political opinions with students in class. Most teachers were intolerant of different views from their own. One of the history teachers told my student's class that he believed Trump was comparable to Jesus and explained why. They tell students to talk about their beliefs. However, if the student thinks differently than they do, they are mostly singled out or no longer able to speak. Moreover, the school is very money oriented and the rules or discipline are only for some students. Unfortunately, those students who come from families that donate a lot of money do not have to follow the rules.
